JEMEZ Y SANGRE WATER PLANNING COUNCIL

The Jemez Y Sangre Water Planning Council was formed in 1998 to develop a coordinated approach to the complex issues surrounding water resources and water allocation in northern New Mexico.

The Council is preparing a proposal to the Interstate Stream Commission in order to complete the Jemez Y Sangre Water Plan. This regional water plan will answer the following questions:

1. What is the supply available to the region?

2. What is the region's current and project demand for water?

3. What are the region's alternatives for using available supplies to meet projected future water demands, including reduction of demand?

4. What are the relative advantages and disadvantages of each proposal with respect to local values and criteria?

5. What are the best water supply alternatives and how will they be implemented?

NCNMEDD is a member of the Planning Council, represented by Donata Traverso. For further information, please contact the Planning Council or see our Hot Topics section to comment on water issues.
