| Planning HighlightsVillage of Wagon Mound Community Outreach Energy ProjectAmerican Recovery and Reinvestment Act Project The North Central New Mexico Economic Development District, Council of Government (NCNMEDD/COG) entered into a contract with the State of New Mexico Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resource Department (EMNRD) to implement a community outreach energy project with funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The Village of Wagon Mound, Mora County was the selected location for the project. An invitation to bid was accepted by Rocky Mountain Youth Corps., who was selected to perform the energy upgrades. The plan was written by Lesah R. Sedillo, Project Manager from NCNMEDD, to implement and monitor the community outreach energy project to reduce energy consumption, save consumers money, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Project shall work in a specific geographic area (Village of Wagon Mound) to (1) upgrade homes and businesses with door weather stripping, efficient light bulbs, low-flow showerheads, water heater insulating blankets, water heater temperature adjustments, and power strips; (2) provide the homeowners and businesses with simple energy conservation ideas; and (3) disseminate materials that contain coupons from local businesses and utilities, and information on energy conservation tips, energy efficiency and renewable energy financing options. The Project shall serve a minimum of 60 households and businesses with upgrades, energy conservation information and materials. Project funded by U.S. Department of Energy, American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Project awarded by Energy Conservation and Management Division of Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department Project Managed by North Central New Mexico Economic Development District, Council of Governments. Energy upgrades for participating residents or private businesses performed by Rocky Mountain Youth Corps. Energy Saving Kits and bulbs donated by Springer Electric Cooperative, Inc.
