NCNMEDD recognizes the important role that community infrastructure plays in supporting the quality of life of people in our State. To that end, NCNMEDD continues its initiatives to partner with local organizations to improve home and community based services.
Non-Metro Area Agency on Aging role is to develop a comprehensive service delivery plan which assists older persons to maintain their independence and dignity while ensuring accountability and quality service delivery. This community based delivery system may be provided directly or through the subcontracting process Non-Metro AAA conducts in the 32 county geographical area.
Non-Metro Area Agency on Aging is committed to reducing hunger and food insecurity among older individuals. Our nutrition program is targeted to adults age 60 and older who are in greatest social and economic need. The nutrition program is authorized under Title IIIC of the Older Americans Act and fulfills the purpose of providing access to healthy meals, nutrition education/nutrition counseling.
The Senior Employment Program (SEP) provides subsidized time-limited work experience and training opportunities for older individuals entering/re-entering the workforce; and, provides community service to the aging network. To qualify, enrollees' income may not exceed 125% of poverty, they must be at 55+ years of age, unemployed and a resident of New Mexico.
