Las Vegas Mainstreet

 VISTA Volunteer will conduct research, community outreach, and provide technical support leading to creation of a at-risk employment action plan for the Las Vegas Mainstreet Economic Development Initiative. The Volunteer will help research Mainstreet programs across the country and promoting equity in hiring. Work will extend to research of local business and to help create a basic framework for engagement of low-income and at risk unemployed individuals to engage in businesses including low-income farmers cooperatives, markets, local businesses and individual entrepreneurs.

City of Santa Fe

The VISTA member will develop a strategic broadband plan that will guide expansion of Wifi in the city with an antipoverty focus. Research will look specifically on broadband deployment in southside Santa Fe, an area with a high vulnerability index, greatly affected by the pandemic. This research will assist with the free wi-fi at mobile home parks and apartment buildings efforts. The member will also act as a coordinator between economic development, IT, broadband vendors and real estate managers/proprietors. VISTAs would be responsible for documenting key milestones and providing research on effective low-income broadband strategy.

Taos Entrepreneurial Network

Gather in-depth information about data used currently for local economic development decisions.  As a VISTA member, you will help to research and build out tools to help inform policy decisions, create jobs, and improve quality of life in economically distressed communities. Over the course of the service, you will partner with the community to problem-solve, recommend economic development activities, expand the reach of information, and identify potential resources and collaborations the communities of Northern New Mexico. Your work will help to build systems useful to our local communities for years to come!

The VISTA Volunteer is working with local senior services providers to build capacity in local needs assessment and program development activities associated with addressing gaps in food security, healthcare, and transportation systems and services.

Center for Community Innovation

Carry out outreach and marketing intended to increase the involvement of low income persons in adult education classes including high school equivalency preparation and testing, resume writing, and job interviewing. VISTA member will also work with area employers to identify job training and education needed by employers, develop training materials. and help secure sponsors and funding to provide the job training local residents need to prepare for work in available local positions in real time.
